Safeguarding

Safeguarding is our top priority.

All those who come in to contact with young people through their everyday work, whether paid or voluntary, have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people.

 To ensure this happens:

  • A Disclosure & Barring Certificate is obtained for all new appointments to the school’s workforce and volunteers who help on a regular basis.
  • All staff sign an Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) before using the school network and abide by the conditions within. Pupils are supervised while online.
  • All school staff undertake appropriate training to equip them to carry out their responsibilities for child protection effectively.
  • All allegations are investigated properly and in line with agreed procedures. We will always follow the Northumberland Safeguarding Children’s Board procedures.
  • We regard bullying as particularly serious and always take firm action against it. We encourage children to work against it and report any incidents of bullying.
  • You are responsible for your own actions and behaviour and should avoid contact which would lead any reasonable person to question their motivation and intentions.

If you hear, see or read anything which troubles you about a child, do not ignore it but report your concerns to our designated Safeguarding Officers:

DSL - Mrs Sarah Smith

Deputy DSL - Miss Sarah Black

Safeguarding Governor - Miss Emma Holleywell
